The Life Journey of Pauline "Hoop" Brown

Her Beginning

The journey of life for Pauline "Hoop" Brown began in Leesburg, Geor-gia on October 28, 1947. She was born to the late Rosetta Mack Brown and the late Elbert "Bubba" James Wright. She received her education in the Lee County School System and the Dougherty County School System. Pauline confessed Christ as her personal savior at Beulah Mission-ary Baptist Church in 1996, under the leadership of the late Reverend James H. Reynolds. She was a member until her health transitioned.

Her Life

Pauline had a profound love and amazing compassion for people and she often showed and shared love through her cooking. Anyone that visited her home was guaranteed to leave with a full stomach from a full-course meal and desserts. She was well known for her soul food cooking and baking cakes and pies. Specifically, people often requested her pound, seven layer German chocolate, and red velvet cakes along with her sweet potato and pecan pies. And everyone loved her delicious sweet tea. Even though Pauline was number five out of eleven children, she was the "Big Mama" of the family. If you needed a word of advice, a listening ear, or just someone to talk to for hours in the day, "Hoop" was the one to call. Pauline loved her family and enjoyed taking care of her family members. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was the glue that ept everyone together and on one accord.

Her Homegoing

On Sunday, December 29, 2019, God softly whispered "Come home it's time for you to rest. Your loved ones will wonder why, but I know best." Pauline was preceded in death by her grandmother, Sallie Mack; one aunt, Mabel Mack; five sisters, Sallie Mae Moses, Rosa Mae Brown, Ruth Norris, Ella Mae Lockett, and Cora Hooks; six brothers, Willie "Preacher" Brown, Johnny "Fat Daddy" Brown, Albert Hayslip, Sr., Ben Hayslip, Willie Hooks, Sr., and Arthur Lee Hooks; and a stepmother, Modena Harris Wright.

Her Legacy

Pauline leaves the legacy of her season to her daughters, Pauline "Von" Brown and Jennifer Brown of Albany; and one grandson, Eric Timley, Jr. of Albany, GA. Precious memories and beautiful moments shared will linger in the minds of other family members: one sister, Mildred Mack; five brothers, Charles Brown, Solomon Brown, Arthur Brown, Eddie (Ann) Brown, and David Brown, Sr. all of Albany, GA; a devoted niece, Patricia Brown of Snellville, GA; two loving nephews, David Brown, Jr. of Albany, GA and Albert Hayslip of Leesburg, GA; four caring and devoted friends, Christine Green, Deann Henderson, Annie Crawford, and Beverly Winchester; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
