Obituary

Rachel Frances Davis was born in Albany, Georgia on May 4, 1958, to the late Warren and Willie Mae Davis.

She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System.  Throughout school, Rachel was a lively, energetic student and a ray of sunshine to teachers, fellow students, and friends.

At an early age, Rachel accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She united with the Greater Cutliff Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully under the leadership of the late Reverend McKinley Drake.  In later years, she continued her journey with the Lord at the Church of Christ under the guidance of Brother Arthur Medlock.  Rachel was a  God-fearing woman  who was prayerful in her daily walk and remained steadfast in her faith until her demise.

Domestic at heart, Rachel was unwavering in her dedication to foster a home filled with love and joy.  She was a selfless, altruistic mother who ate not the bread of idleness and always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family.  For numerous years, she skillfully balanced her responsibilities as a homemaker with her employment as a domestic worker for several families in the Albany area.  She took great pride in her work and always stayed the course to ensure that no task was ever left undone.

Often described as a strong, but kind and generous lady with a big heart, Rachel was always there to help family, friends, neighbors, and even a stranger in need.  She believed deeply in unconditional love, delighted in spending time with family and friends, was always camera ready, had a soft spot in her heart for her grandchildren, and she was a master on the grill.  To know her was to dearly love and cherish her.

On February 7, 2022, Rachel transitioned from this earthly realm to eternal rest and peace with the Lord.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Willie James Lee, Harry Davis, Jenice Lewis, and Diane Davis.

Cherished memories will forever remain with her children, Tonya (Damon) Lewis and Stanley Davis both of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Dequissa McCray, Sakeva Davis, Demetris McCray, Triniti Baltimore, Jamal Lewis, Brianna Daviis, and Shanterria Hall all of Albany, GA; great grandchildren, Kari Johnson, Ava Davis, and Alexander Tyson, Jr.; siblings, Joce Barnes of Bradenton, FL, and Madie Davis, Joseph Davis, Allison Thomas, Sammy Davis, and Patricia (Cortez) Collier all of Albany, GA; nieces and nephews; a host of cousins, friends, and extended family; and a very devoted friend,  Roosevelt  Henderson.
