Ran-Derek R. Cullen was born in Albany, Georgia on July 22, 1983. He was the beloved son of Beverly Cullen and the late Kenneth Price.
He received his early childhood education in the public schools of New York City. After relocating to Albany, Georgia with his family, he continued his education at Monroe Comprehensive High School and graduated in 2002. While at Monroe, he actively participated in numerous student organizations and activities. Upon graduation, Ran-Derek attended Albany State University where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He later earned a Master's Degree from Southern New Hampshire University.
Early in life, Ran-Derek began his Christian journey. He was a faithful member of Eureka Baptist Church in Leary, Georgia and willingly availed himself in service wherever needed. His life was undergirded by a resolute devotion to God and the fellowship with his church family.
Ran-Derek was an extremely conscientious and ambitious individual whose employment as a Dispatcher at Albany State University was defined by hard work, high expectations, and unquestionable integrity. He had a great eye for detail, an amazing ability to organize, and he gave his best at all times.
Simply a true joy to everyone around him, Ran-Derek's presence was a gift, as was his fierce love for family and friends. He found joy in every circumstance, relished in the simple things in life, and his jovial attitude left an unforgettable impression on all who knew him. Memories of his sense of humor, generosity, and tireless support for others will forever be cherished.
Ran-Derek transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace with the Lord on January 11, 2022. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie Mae Palmer Cullen and Willie Lee Cullen Sr.; his aunt, Mary Cullen; and his cousin, Dorsey Walker, Jr.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Beverly M. Cullen of Albany, GA; four siblings, Emile Broussard, Jr., Wayne Price, Marcus Price, and Santana Price all of Albany, GA; paternal grandparents, Charles and Roberta Price; his niece, Mykia Bonner of Mobile, AL; aunts and uncles, Annie Walker, Sheila Cullen, Jaqueline Cullen Kennedy (Rick), Willie Lee Cullen, Jr., William Cullen (Rudella), and Rufus Cullen; great aunts and uncles, Eva Johnson (Jim), Dorothy Johnson (John), Willie Jones (Ora), and William Harris; a very special friend, Kim Moses; and a myriad of cousins, extended family, and friends.
