IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Reginald Steven
Penn
November 3, 1964 – November 6, 2019
Reginald Steven Penn, beloved son of the late Rufus Jones and the late Pauline Penn, was born in Albany, Georgia on November 3, 1964.
He attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Monroe High School where he graduated in the class of 1983. While at Monroe, he was actively involved in numerous school organizations, activities, and sporting events.
Early in life, Reginald professed his faith and belief in Christ Jesus and united with the Institutional First Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. E. G. Sherman, Jr. He served faithfully in various capacities and willingly assisted wherever needed in the church. In later years, he was added to the body of River Road (now Gaines Avenue) Church of Christ.
On November 6, 1993, Reginald was joined in holy matrimony to Michelle Young. Their union stood the test of time as they enjoyed and celebrated a wonderful life together.
Reginald was a man with a big heart and a quiet, humble spirit. He was a very genuine person who loved the Lord, his family, and his fellowman. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he held fast to his belief that work was honorable and was diligent in caring for the needs of his family.
"Bubble Gum" as he was affectionately called, was often described as a people's person, He had a special way of getting to know people and becoming a part of their lives. He was a down-to-earth, humble man who was a source of encouragement to everyone he met. He had a passion of grilling and was hailed as a true "grill master" on the campuses of Monroe High School and Albany State University, and many times at the Albany Civic Center. Reginald also loved sports and was a die-hard Pittsburg Steelers fan. The Steelers were an integral part of his life.
On November 6, 2019, Reginald transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his oldest brother, Willie Penn.
He leaves to celebrate the memories of a life well lived, his devoted wife of 26 years, Michelle Penn; four children, Antonio Clinton, Sequoia (Anthony) Cowan, Kimiya Clinton, and Fontwan Hood; grandchildren, Kimontre Jackson, Armani Clinton, Winter Skye Clinton, and Jaxson Williams; siblings, James (Gloria) Penn of Jacksonville, FL, Emanuel (Althea) Penn of Atlanta, GA, Lois Adams, Mary Branch, and Phyllis (Dymytrk) Kittles all of Albany, GA; father and mother-in-law, Bishop Willie and Doris Young; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael (Lajuana) Young, Willie (Angela) Young, Alexis (Teresa) Young, Avery Young, Bridgett (Austin) Rambo, Letina (Benjamin) Jefferson, and Precious Rivers; 7 lifelong friends, Cassandra Washington, Malcolm Davis, Glynn Leftenant, Brian Shine, Tina Wakefield, Robert Moore, and Nellie Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.
