Obituary

Reginald Bernard Sims, Sr. was born August 18, 1975, in Albany, Georgia.  He was the son of  Melvin Walls and the late Alice Sims.

He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Dougherty Comprehensive High School.  While at Dougherty, he was actively involved in numerous student organizations, activities and sporting events.  He continued his education at Albany Technical College where he earned certificates in multiple program areas.

In 2008, Reginald met the love of his life, Shuneata Johnson and they began a courtship that resulted in marriage on December 1, 2014.   His love for his wife was unmatched—she was the sparkle in his eyes, the beat in his heart, and the air that he breathed.  For numerous years, he worked untiringly to provide for his family until becoming disabled.  Through all of life's challenges and triumphs, he always remained courageous and joyful.

Reginald was a caring father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who garnered much for his life experiences.  His love for family and friends was infinite and he cherished each moment spent with them.  He had an engaging personality, gigantic heart, a very welcoming spirit, and he always stood ready to lend a helping hand.  The strong bonds of friendship that he developed through the years will forever be remembered.  One of his favorite pastimes was playing games on his electronic device.

On April 22, 2021, Reginald's earthly journey ended and he transitioned to eternal peace and rest.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by three aunts, Ladavia Sims, Rosette Sims, and Annie Ruth Jackson.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his wife, Shuneata Johnson Sims; his children, Reginald Sims, Jr., Caleb Hardwick, Malcolm Jenkins, and twelve others; father, Melvin Walls; three siblings, Victoria Sims, Kionnah Johnson, and Anthony Sims; mother-in-law, Wanda McMillian; sisters-in-law, Arleatha Reddick and Lucy Newton; brother-in-law, Anthony Newton; aunts and uncles, Priscilla Eady, Estelle Butler, Angela Eady, Jacob Eady, Jake Eady, Jimmy Sims, and Benjamin Eady; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
