IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Respent "Buddy"
Green, Jr.
April 22, 1941 – June 10, 2019
Respent "Buddy" Green, Jr. , son of the late Respent Green, Sr. and Bertha Mae Green, was born in Leesburg, Georgia on April 22, 1941.
He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School in 1961.
Guided by the hand of godly elders, Respent joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age. Utilizing his God-given musical talent, he was an active member of the Senior Choir and Male Chorus; he also played the tambourine. On April 9, 2009, Respent was ordained as a deacon and served faithfully in that capacity until his demise. In addition to performing his spiritual duties, he took great pride in assisting with the upkeep of the church grounds whenever needed.
In 1964, he was united in holy matrimony to his soulmate, Jennie Gordon; they were blessed with four children. Respent was a loving husband, dedicated father, and a wonderful provider for his family. He worked for CSX Railroad Company as a switchman for 10 years. Respent was also a gifted artist. He loved to dray and paint various scenes in his spare time. One of his most acclaimed works is the mural that currently adorns the wall of New Jerusalem's baptismal pool.
On a tranquil Monday evening, June 10, 2019, Respent caught a glimpse of his heavenly father beckoning him to bid this world farewell. Without hesitation, he silently responded to his celestial call. All is well because he is now at peace and resting in the loving arms of our redeemer!
