Mr. Richard Allen, Jr. was born in Sasser, Georgia on September 29, 1938, the late Richard Allen and Rose Lee Fleming Allen.
He received his formal education in the Terrell County School System and actively participated in various student activities and events.

On August 22, 1975, he was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life and soul-mate, Nellie Mae Jones. Their union endured through the years and they were blessed with a loving family. Richard was a devoted husband and father who worked hard to provide unconditionally for his family through his employment with Albany Sheet Metal. He was a loyal, dedicated employee; was totally committed to his profession; and retired after rendering more than 45 years of unwavering service.
Fondly known as "Hunchy," Richard believed strongly in family ties and responsibilities and he took advantage of every opportunity to spend time with them. Not only was he a loving family man, but a loyal friend as well. His gentle spirit drew many to him and he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. watching a variety of TV shows and westerns, including Gunsmoke and Raw Hide; however, his all-time favorite was baseball season and his famous team—the Atlanta Braves. If ever in his presence, you definitely had to cheer for the Braves. Richard also enjoyed great food—ribs, peanuts, pineapple upside–down cake, and Mountain Dew.
