Richard Bolden,
Jr.
June 13, 1934 – September 10, 2019
Richard Bolden, Jr. was born June13, 1934, in Poplarville, Mississippi. He was the son of the late Richard Bolden, Sr. and Alberta Gibbs Bolden.
He was educated in the public schools of Pearl River County, attending George Washington Carver High School in Picayune, MS. He later in life received training from Monroe Area Vocational-Technical School in Albany, Georgia.
Richard heeded the "call for military duty" and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served with distinction as a Aircraft Mechanic and received a Good Conduct Medal. While stationed at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia, Richard met and married the former Jeanne S. Thompson and they made Albany, Georgia their home.
Richard was employed by Norfolk Southern where he retired after many years of service. After retirement not wanting to sit idle, he chose to work as a School Crossing Guard for the Dougherty County School System and he was loved by the community that he served. He was a member of Hines Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Some of his community involvements and memberships was with American Legion and Masonic Lodge. He was also a very dedicated Election Poll Worker. He was a loving husband and caring father who vey much enjoyed the company of his family and friends.
After becoming disabled, he resided at Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, Georgia, And while there he continued to enjoy life –faithfully attending church service, participating in community outings and in-house events as well as visiting home.
On September 10, 2019, Richard's earthly journey ended at Regency Hospital in Macon, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne S. Bolden and son, Rocquel Greene.
Fond memories will forever be cherished by his children, Cheryl Smalley, Richard Bolden (Priscilla), Roderick Bolden, Apryl Hillsman (Kerry), and Germayel Greene (Brionna); siblings, Dorothy Risby, Mary Woodward (James), Harold Bolden, Evelyn McCotter, James Henry (Dolores), Althea Bolden Young, Joceyln Bolden Wiley (Joe), Pamela Bolden Benoit, and Maria Bolden Ladner (James); and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
