IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Rush,
Jr.
November 3, 1935 – April 23, 2021
Richard Rush, Jr. was born November 3, 1935, in Sylvester, Georgia. He was the third child born to the late Richard Rush, Sr. and Nellie Solomon Rush.
During the early years of his life, he was received his formal education in the Worth County School System.
Growing up in a loving and prayer filled home, Richard was taught to reverence God early in life. As a youth, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior which was the beginning of a lifetime journey of Christian stewardship. In later years, he united with First Faith Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon under the leadership of Pastor Willie Bagley, Sr. Deacon Rush was a man who was strong in faith, in character, and in wisdom. Whatever his hands found to do, he did it faithfully with joy.
Deacon Rush was a family man with unmatched devotion to his children. Over the years, he taught them the value of hard work through his employment at the Albany Marine Corp Logistics Base, Newcomb Mayflower Moving Company, and Wingate Trucking Company. Deacon Rush held fast to his belief that work is honorable while devoting his time and energy to his employment at Georgia Pacific. He was a dedicated employee, prided himself in a "job well done", and retired as a supervisor having rendered years of loyal service. In his leisure, he enjoyed grilling and fishing. He also held membership in the Masonic Brotherhood.
Loving father, unfailing grandfather, caring uncle, and loyal friend, Deacon Rush had a big heart and a generous spirit. His friendliness and kindness to all people, his commitment to his church, and his devotion and love for his family and friends are lasting tributes to who he was. His presence will be deeply missed.
On April 23, 2021, Deacon Rush transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace with the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Lou, Bernice, Lillie Bell, James, Joel, Willie Jay, and Lenard.
