Obituary

Robert Lee Barnes, Jr. was born in Bronx, New York on November 4, 1944.  He was the  son of the late Robert Lee Barnes, Sr. and Eula Mae Barnes.

He received his early childhood and secondary education in the New York City School System  and was actively involved in various student centered activities and organizations.

Robert was a highly skilled and extremely talented commercial/industrial painter with Cabrini Hospital.   He was a very strong man who was built of character, personal conviction, and unparalleled work ethics which followed him throughout his career.   In 20008, he retired having rendered innumerable years of loyal and dedicated service.

Upon retirement, Robert relocated to Albany, Georgia where he was blessed  beyond measure after meeting and ultimately marrying the love of his life, Delores Wright.  His love for his wife was unmatched—she was the sparkle in his eyes, the beat in his heart, and the air that he breathed.  Together, they created a home filed with love and strong family ties.  Robert was an awesome husband and father who took great care in providing for his family.

A man of great faith and belief in Christ Jesus, Robert united with the Word of Truth Church later in his life.  He served faithfully and was ordained as a Steward under the leadership and guidance of the late Pastor and Overseer Benetta Caldwell.  He dearly loved the Lord and he "leg his light shine" in his daily walk..

Loving husband, unfailing father, caring brother, awesome uncle, unforgettable cousin, and loyal friend, Robert loved deeply; laughed often; lived life to the fullest; enjoyed spending time with family and friends; and stood ready to lend a helping hand.  He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.

Robert Jeremiah transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest and peace on February 27, 2023.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Lorraine Barnes, Brenda Clark, and Eric Gaskin.

Precious memories will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Delores Wright Barnes; his children,  Curt Barker, Alexia Barnes, and Robert Barnes; his sister, Rita Barnes Johnson; nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Tatanisha Turner, Dashanda Dawson, Alvin Cowart II, and Charles Cowart; seven step-grandchildren; a trusted caregiver, Drana Godwin; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
