Robert Lee Clay, Sr. was born in Dawson, Georgia on May 25, 1958. He was the son of the late Ozella Clay Foster and Luther Clay.
He attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Albany High School where he graduated in the class of 1977. During his years at Albany High, he was active in numerous school clubs and activities.
As a young man, Robert began his professional career at Albany Linen Company. Through the years, he was a loyal and dedicated employee who took great pride in his work.
On October 7, 2004, Robert was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Susie Lee Clay. He was the proud father of six children and a wonderful provider for his family. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he always put the needs and comfort of his family first. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and feeding and talking to his roosters.
Robert was a selfless, humble, and uplifting man who enjoyed being active and especially loved spending quality time with his family and friends. His quick wit and encouraging smile made him a favorite among all who came in contact with him. Even in the midst of declining health, he remained upbeat and was always grateful for every good thing that came his way.
On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, Robert's earthly journey ended as he quietly entered into eternal rest. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Fond memories will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Susie Lee Clay; children, Christina Clay, Rickey Harris, Charlie (Temeka) Harris, Lawanda Clay, Amanda Clay, and Robert (Jelisa) Clay, Jr.; siblings, Betty C.
