Obituary

Deacon Robert Lee Hamilton was born on July 28, 1939, in Worth County, Georgia.   He was the beloved son of the late Willie Hamilton and Jewell Washington.

He received his formal education in the Fitzgerald Georgia School District, including Queensland High School.

Throughout his childhood, Deacon Hamilton was nurtured in the word of God.  At an early age, he united with the Mt. Calvary Dorminy Mill Baptist Church in Fitzgerald and was a dedicated member of the choir.  In later years, he united with Shiloh Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for numerous years.  Upon moving to Albany, he united with the Evangelical Faith Vision Ministries under the guidance of the late Apostle Isaiah Revills.  For more than 45 years, he was a servant of the Lord and a faithful Deacon whose faith never wavered.

He was united in holy matrimony to May Alice Canady.  Their union stood the test of time and was blessed with a loving family.  Deacon Hamilton was a devoted husband and father who worked untiringly through the years as owner and operator of Hamp's Garage in Albany.  His mechanical expertise, workmanship, and professional ethics yielded him the reputation of being "top notch" in his field.  He found joy and solace in his life-long passion that enabled him to provide unconditionally for his family.

Deacon Hamilton was a very unique man who was full of life, compassion, love, and was always giving.  He was a very genuine person who loved the Lord, his family, and his fellowman.  Often described as a hardworking, determined individual, he was also a people's person who greatly impacted his community and touched the lives of many with his jokes being often referred to as the "jokester of the crowd."  He will be greatly missed by all who dearly loved him.

On Tuesday, March 6, 2019, Deacon Hamilton departed this earthly life at Pruitt Health Nursing Home.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Eva M. Pressley; and seven siblings, Louise H. Davis, Roberta Williams, Johnny Hamilton, Arthur Washington, Willie B. Hamilton, Reverend  Joe Powell, and Joseph Hamilton.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. May Alice Hamilton of Albany, GA; three children, Patrick L. (Gladys) Hamilton of Stone Mountain, GA, Precious L.
