Obituary

Robert Lee Williford, Jr. was born August 24, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He was the beloved son of the late Robert Lee Williford, Sr. and the late Marian Gulley Williford Culbreth.  Tiny, as he was affectionately called, was nurtured under the guiding hand of his grandmother, Tommie Williford.

He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School.  Throughout his school years, he actively participated in various sporting events and activities.

Growing up in a loving, Christian home, Robert was taught the Word of God and the power of prayer.  At an early age, he professed his faith and belief in Christ; was baptized; and became a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. He dearly loved the Lord and worked willingly worked wherever needed in the church.  In 1990, he united with New Trinity COGIC under the pastorate of the late Superintendent John I. Davis, Sr.  There, he served faithfully as an ordained  Deacon as he continued his Christian service.

Robert was a very conscientious individual who worked untiringly to provide for his family.  He was employed for over 25 years with the Radium Springs Country Club until its closing in 1994.  He later gained employment with the City of Albany as a maintenance supervisor.  Over the years, he lead by example and his work crew trusted his judgment and respected his leadership.  Robert possessed an exemplary work ethic and a strong belief in working hard for what you want.  He retired after rendering many years of loyal and dedicated service.

Devoted husband, loving father, unfailing brother, caring uncle, committed cousin, and loyal friend, Robert embraced life with open arms.  He had a big heart , a kind and generous spirit, and was always willing to help others.  His gigantic smile and engaging personality was a source of encouragement and joy to everyone he met.  Family was paramount in his life and putting them first was never a second thought—family always came first.  His unconditional love and generosity will always be remembered.

On October 7, 2020, Robert transitioned to eternal peace and rest.  In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Marcus; and his sister-in-law, Mattie Dixon.
