Obituary

A Time to Be Born: The season of life for Rock Hudson, Sr. began on June 14, 1947, in Early County, Georgia. He was the beloved son of the late Glover Hudson, Sr. and Gracie Oliver Hudson.

A Time to Learn: Rock received his early childhood and secondary education in the public schools of Damascus, Georgia. Throughout school, he was an adventurous young man with a zeal for new experiences and was actively involved in various school functions and activities while gaining valuable technical and life skills.

A Time to Serve : At a very early age, Rock accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a faithful member of Second Kiokee Missionary Baptist Church and rendered unparalleled service as an usher. Rock was seriously devoted to his calling as a "door keeper" as he greeted the congregation
and ushered them into the service. He stood firm on his belief that "to serve as an usher was an honor" and he stood proudly until the Lord called him home.

A Time to Love: In 1984, Rock was united in marriage to his soulmate, Rossalland. They shared a unique journey overflowing with joy, laughter, love, and commitment. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Rockenia and Racquel. He also had three sons from a previous union, Rock Jr., Reginald, and Rodney. Rock had a genuine love for his family and each member held a special place in his heart. If you searched the world over, you would not find a more loving, caring husband and father.

A Time to Work: Rock was ambitious in all that he did. For 28 years, he poured himself untiringly into his work at Damascus Peanut Company; always giving his BEST no matter what the task. Upon retirement, he was described by coworkers and his employer as punctual; always prepared for business; jovial but sincere; and a very giving person who was proud of his work record and his accomplishments.

A Time to Embrace: "Uncle Rock," as he was affectionately called, was a very kind and gentle-hearted person who embraced life with open arms. His one-of-a-kind personality captured the hearts of everyone around him. He was a friend you could depend on, always ready to lend a helping hand, and delighted in relationships filled with love, humor, and respect. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, grilling and dancing which earned him the coveted title of "Swing King!" among family and friends. His Journey Just Began.

A Time to Rest: On Saturday, August 6, 2022, Rock transitioned from this earthly season to eternal rest and peace with the Lord. In addition to his parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Benny Hudson, Sr., Clifford Hudson, Sr., Linda Hill, Annie Bell Hudson, Glover Hudson, Jr., Ruby Nell Glover, and Christine Hudson-Watson.

A Time to Cherish: Fond memories will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Rossalland Hudson of Arlington, GA; his children, Rock Hudson, Jr., Reginald Hudson, and Rodney Hudson all of Jacksonville, FL, and Rockenia Hudson and Racquel Hudson (Brandon Grier) both of Arlington, GA; siblings, Willie (Dorothy) Hudson of Altamonte Springs, FL and Robert (Carol) Hudson of Demorest, GA; aunts, Rosie Hudson of Blakely, GA and Eunice Hudson of Arlington, GA; five grandchildren, Jenea Williams, Najah Reddick, Jordan Lovett, Tyler Reddick, and Madison Grier; two great grandchildren, Ayden Williams and Aaliyah Williams; a special niece/daughter, Charleane Williams; goddaughter, Lequista Hawkins; god-great grandchild, Bryce Williams; two very close friends, Carl Williams and June Lawhorne; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and innumerable friends in Arlington, GA, and the Baker, Calhoun, and Early County communities.
