IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rodrick Lekeith
Taylor
March 5, 1974 – July 2, 2019
Rodrick LeKeith Taylor was born in Albany, Georgia on March 5, 1974. He was the son of Velma McClary and Robert Edwards.
In his younger years, he attended Coachman Park Elementary School and Southside Middle School. He then attended Monroe Comprehensive High School before relocating to Cocoa, Florida to live with his Aunt Brownie for a short period of time. While there, he attended Brevard High School where he played football. Upon returning to Albany, he continued his education at Monroe High and later received his diploma from Southwest Georgia Institute. Roderick's life was filled with varied interests and experiences. He performed in countless talent and step shows with the group, DDB (Distinguished Delegates of Brotherhood aka Du Dirty Boyz).
He was formerly married to Michell Taylor and with this union, three children were born—Dontrell, Alexis, and Jasmine. Roderick was a very independent individual who spent the majority of his working career in the construction industry. He was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and a loyal friend whose smile was contagious. He would always find the good in people and could make a friend wherever he would go. When he was not working, he could often be found engaging in his favorite hobby—drawing, talking and making people laugh, or spending time with his children and family. Roderick touched the lives of many people and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
On July 2, 2019, Rodrick transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Judwanda Hilson, Unterrius Newsome, Tadarrian Edwards, and Antwan Newsome.
Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of his parents, Velma McClary and Robert Edwards of Albany, GA; his children and their mother, Dontrell Taylor of Pendleton, CA, Alexis Taylor of St. Louis, MO, Jasmine Taylor of Carrollton, GA, and Michell Taylor of St. Louis, MO; siblings, Ashley Newsome of Albany, GA, LaWayne Clark, Subricca Hilson, Walter Clark, John Hilson, Robert Edwards, Jr., Athalia Rhodes, Alexander West, Latanya Weston, Shekita Howard, Shenickole West, and Tavarius West; grandchildren, Amora K.
