A Time to Be Born: Romer Jackson, Jr. was born in Leesburg, Georgia on July 21, 1948, to the late Romer Jackson, Sr. and Alice Hall Brown.
A Time to Learn and Grow Spiritually: He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School. Throughout school, he was an active. inquisitive young man who gained valuable industrial and life skills. At a very early age, Romer accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. He dearly loved the Lord and continued his spiritual path by being of service to others throughout each season of his life.
A Time to Serve: A service-driven military enthusiast, Romer enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he demonstrated bravery and commitment to his country. During his enlistment, he was assigned to posts in multiple states, as well as in Vietnam where he further exemplified his patriotism and courage. At the close of his final tour of duty, having advanced through the military ranks, he received and honorable discharge and returned to civilian life.
A Time to Work: In later years, he relocated to Valdosta, Georgia where he began his career as a Substance Abuse Counselor and Mentor at Behavioral Health Services for the State of Georgia. For more than 30 years, Romer was an integral part of many people's lives and Narcotics Anonymous. He was a dedicated worker with a servants heart who guided and helped stitch together many individuals who were faced with complex challenges.
A Time to Embrace: Affectionately called "Bubba Jr.," by family and friends, Romer embraced life experiences with open arms. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and loyal friend who left a lasting impression and shared a piece of spiritual wisdom with all he encountered.
A Time to Rest: "Then shall be dust return to the earth as it was...and the spirit shall return to God who gave it." Ecclesiastes 12:7. Romer departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
A Time to Cherish: Fond memories will forever be cherished by his children, Rome Jackson (Sharon), Joy Jackson (Debra), and Romer
Jackson III (Ruby); his long-time companion, Johnnie Mae Hampton; special niece and nephew, Halaveshia Hall and Josh Foster, Jr.; uncle ,
Artis Hall, long-time friends, Henry and Jacqueline Holloway, Jr.;
grandchildren, Laken, Allena, De'Angelo, Brandon, Romel, Kaden, and Dylan; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
