Ronald Cherry, son of the late William Cherry, Jr. and Carolyn Mathis, was born in Albany, Georgia on March 18, 1958.

During the early years of his life, he attended the public schools of Dougherty County and participated in various school activities and functions.

Ron , as he was affectionately called, loved his family and friends unconditionally and always found the good in everyone. He was easy going, caring, and kind; and he was able to find humor in most situations. Over the years, he made many lasting friendships and he will be sorely missed.

On Monday, April 25, 2017 surrounded by family, Ron departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Robin LaFaye Cherry; four aunts, Evonne Mathis, Annie Pearl Taylor, Mary L. Mathis, and Marie Spence; and three uncles, Russell Mathis, Bruce Cherry, and James Green.

Unforgettable memories will forever be cherished by his loving daughter, Carmenlita Ellis of Phenix City, AL; seven siblings, Jacqueline (Kenneth) Patterson, Glynnis (Roosevelt) Whitfield, and Christopher Cherry all of Albany, GA, Cheryl Hines of Clayton, NC, Margaret Ellis Jackson of Clinton, NC, William Best of Goldsboro, NC, and Kelvin (Dale) Best of Raleigh, NC; a god-sister, Cheryl Jones of Douglasville, GA; three grandchildren, Michael Crimes, Jr. of Fort Riley, KS, Jasmine (Bobby) Hollis of El Paso, TX, and Michelle Ellis of Phenix City, AL; one great grandson, King Crimes; aunts and uncles, Lena Mathis, Julia Mathis, Jimmy Lee Mathis, Willie M. Mathis, David Mathis, Donald Mathis, and Jan Lewis Mathis all of Albany, GA, Wilhelmina (Harold Sr.) Mansfield and Norma Cherry of Hartford, CT, and Frances (Clinton Sr.) Simmons of Bloomfield, CT; one great aunt, Susie Keith of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
