IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Leon
Coleman
September 9, 1947 – February 22, 2025
Ronald Leon Coleman was born in Albany, Georgia on September 9, 1947. He was the beloved son of the late Freddie Coleman and Rosa Kennedy Coleman.
He received his early childhood and secondary education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School. Endearingly called "Bro-nub" by family and friends, he was a young man of passion and purpose throughout his school years; excelled academically; and gained valuable technical and industrial skills that followed him into adulthood.
Ready to serve his country shortly after high school, Ronald enlisted in the United States Army and served with distinction in the 14th Infantry 25 Division PYT E-1 Fire Command. He was a soldier to the core who believed strongly in loyalty and commitment to his country. During his enlistment, he received numerous awards and commendations for his valiant and meritorious service, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Upon completion of his final military assignment he was honorably discharged and returned to civilian life.
A man of great faith in God, Ronald was a dedicated member of Christian Life Missionary Baptist Church. He served faithfully and was unfaltering in his devotion as an Usher who stood proudly at his post greeting the congregation. Ronald loved his ministry and firmly believed that because the Lord called him to duty—to serve was truly an honor.
Ronald was a devoted husband, loving father, nurturing grandfather, committed brother, caring uncle, unforgettable cousin, and loyal friend whose love knew no boundaries. His compassion, understanding, responsiveness, and willingness to help others made him a cherished friend to many. In his leisure, he enjoyed many fun-filled family gatherings; fishing and hunting; and his all-time favorite sport—football.
On February 25, 2025, Ronald transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest. Though his earthly departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, we take comfort in knowing that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
Loving memories will forever be cherished by his wife, Valerie Coleman; his children, Roderick (Stacey) Coleman and Shabaka (Tyrie) Coleman; stepchildren, Antonio Price, Shenq'uia Price, Tiffany Price, and Larry Starling, Jr.; sister, Diane Coleman; grandchildren, Avery, Aubery, Ciera, Ananiyah, Katie, Aiden, Jaliyah, Da'Ryiah, and Da'Quan; nephew, Juan Coleman; father-in-law, Eugene Oliver; brother-in-law, Michael Oliver; sisters-in-law, Tonja Evans and Audrey Oliver; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
