Roosevelt Leverette, Sr. was born in Terrell County, Georgia on August 27, 1953.  He was the beloved son of the late Archie Leverette, Sr. and Hattie Bell Leverette.

He received his formal education in the public schools of Dougherty County and was active in numerous school organizations and activities.

He was united in holy matrimony to Josie Rhine Jackson on March 23, 2002.  They shared a love that knew no boundaries and a devotion to one another that grew strong with time.  Roosevelt was a devoted husband and proud father who was diligent in caring for the needs of his family.  He was an exceptionally skilled, self-employed master painter who took great pride in his work and worked tirelessly to ensure that no task was left undone.

"Popcorn" as he was affectionately called, was a very conscientious individual who embraced opportunities and the chance to experience life with open arms.  He was goodhearted and had an everlasting love for family and friends.  He was a loving brother, a nurturing uncle, a caring cousin, and a loyal friend and he will be deeply missed by all who dearly loved him.

On Wednesday, May 8, 2019, Roosevelt quietly entered into eternal rest.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josie Rhine Jackson Leverette; and four siblings, O'Neal Leverette, Luther Leverette, Annie Edwards, and Maudie Leverette.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his children, Roy Hilson, Roosevelt J. Broadway, Takiesha Broadway, Algernon Leverette, Roosevelt Leverette, Jr., and Kentrell Hightower all of Albany, GA; three brothers, Archie Leverette, Jr. and Curtis (Rosalyn) Leverette, Sr. of Albany, GA, and Bobby (Cassandra) Leverette of Jacksonville, FL; a close family friend, Riley Benson of Albany, GA, four stepchildren, numerous grandchildren, two aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
