IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosa
Gibson
September 13, 1948 – April 29, 2024
Rosa Mae Davis Gibson was born in Lee County, Georgia on September 13, 1948.. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ossie Lee and Robert Davis, Sr.
She was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School. Throughout school, she was a very considerate young lady with a deep yearning to be of service to others.
Hailing from a strong Christian home, Rosa's journey with the Lord began very early in life. She was a dedicated member of Lighthouse Church of the Living God where she fervently availed herself in service to her calling as a missionary. Her faith and trust in God guided her life and allowed her to be an example for all who encountered her.
Rosa was joined in holy matrimony to her best friend and life-long mate, Elder Andrew Gibson III. Their 60-year journey together was filled with love and true devotion to each other. Through the years, she proved to be a true anchor and helpmate to her husband and they were blessed with a loving family. As a wife and mother, she ate not the bread of idleness and skillfully balanced her duties as a meticulous homemaker with her employment at M & M Mars. She was an exceptionally conscientious employee who never shied away from hard work, constantly exceeded department goals, and always gave her best—no matter what the task. Rosa's life after work included caring for her plants and flowers, traveling, and playing the piano.
A strong but gentle woman, Rosa lived a rich and rewarding life. She had a servant's heart and took great pride in using her God'-given talents to help others. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of her life.
On April 29, 2024, Rosa transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest with the Lord. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first born, Loretha Gibson; four siblings, Carrie Sims-Strun, Virginia Davis-Rowe, Ossie Potts, and Johnny Lee Davis; and her brother-in-law Willie Hill.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Elder Andrew Gibson III; her children, Jerry (Janice) Gibson, Elder Willie Gibson, Rosa Irvin, and Shirley (Eddie) Davis; stepdaughter, Minnie White; siblings, Redell (Kenny) Kennedy, Artizell Johnson, Bernice Hill, Jessie (Velina) Davis, David (Alice) Shed, Ivery Davis, Robert (Mary) Davis, and Cleveland (Irene) Davis; two great aunts, Virginia Sims and Shirley Townsell; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
