Obituary

Rosa Weston Styles, daughter of the late Deck Salter and Mary Mays Salter, was born on September 11, 1942, in Leesburg, Georgia. She was educated in the Terrell County School System where she was actively involved in numerous school organizations and activities. As a youth, Rosa accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.  Through the years, she was a faithful servant of the Lord who served willingly wherever needed.

Rosa was united in holy matrimony to Elijah Styles.  Their union endured through the years and was blessed with a loving family.  As a wife and mother, she was a persistent, hardworking woman who ate not the bread of idleness.  For many years, she skillfully balanced her life as a homemaker with her employment at the sewing factory, and later as a home healthcare worker.  Throughout her career, she held fast to her belief that work is honorable and she taught her children the value of hard work as she labored tirelessly for more than 40 years.

Betty as she was affectionately called, was a very kind, good-natured, and generous lady who was a joy to be around.  She was a giver—always willing to give to others.  To the hungry, she offered food; to the homeless, she offered shelter, to the broken hearted, she offered consolation, and to the lost, she offered hope and guidance.  She was considered by many as a difference maker and a strong but humble person who will be missed dearly.  In her quiet time, she enjoyed jig saw puzzles.

On Sunday, April 26, 2020, Rosa departed this earthly life at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  In addition to her parents, she was     preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elijah Styles; daughter, Alisa Ann Weston; and four siblings, James C. Baldwin, Rosa E. Parks, Rebecca Alexander, and Rayfield Salter.

Precious memories will be forever cherished by her children, Helen Salter, Shirley King, Willie J. White, Willie C. (Liz) Weston, Jr., and April Harris; sister, Josie M. Renfroe; 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, foster children, and friends.
