A Time to Be Born: Ruby Lee Parker-Thomas was born August 7, 1941, in Dawson, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of the late Mattie P. Welson and John Pierce.
A Time to Learn: She received her formal education in the Terrell County School System. Throughout her school year, she actively participated in various student organizations and events.
A Time to Serve: From a very young age, Ruby was nurtured in the word of God. As a youth, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful member of the Church of the Living Word, under the leadership of Pastor Mary Ann Whitley. Ruby was unfaltering in her service as an Usher and stood fervently at her post for more than 40 years.
A Time to Love: She was united in holy matrimony to Y. C. Thomas. Their union endured through the years as they honored their vows to love and cherish each other. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; a committed sister and aunt; and a loyal cousin and friend. Ruby had a kind heart and a very generous spirit. You couldn't know her without being inspired by her love and devotion.
A Time to Work: Ruby was a very persistent, conscientious individual who ate not the bread of idleness. For numerous years, she labored tirelessly as a housekeeper and Nurse's Aide. She had a servant's heart and felt most comfortable when taking care of others. Her quiet, compassionate, and calming presence was oftentimes all that was needed to uplift a patient, family member, or a friend.
A Time to Rest : On Saturday, September 5, 2020, Ruby transitioned to eternal rest and peace. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Joseph Parker; her son, Ronald Parker.
A Time to Cherish: Fond memories will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Y. C. Thomas; children, Pamela Miller, Regina (Nathaniel) Jones of Jacksonville, FL, Sandra (Terry) Hopkins, Gregory Parker, and Loretta Parker; grandchildren, Denise Parker, Kanelka Willis (Derrick Thomas), Shaqunta (Adrian) Jones, Shanellor Parker, Montavious (Shameka) Miller, Nikita Jones, Shabreka (Tim) Watkins, Nathaniel (Danielle) Jones, Teshonna Jackson, Meik Jackson, Detavious Cutts, Valance Williams, Yshekia Parker, Jamequa Parker, Jakia Parker, Jacordus Parker, Ronald Parker, Jr., and Marcus, Parker; thirty-four great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; siblings, Bennie Clyde, Earnest (Martha) Clyde, Annie L. Clyde, Lizzie (John) Harris all of Leesburg, GA, Johnny L. Clyde, Jimmy L. Clyde, Einestine (Thurma) Perry, Lillie Pearl Davis all of Albany, GA, Patricia (Joe) Jones and Betty Wells both of Dawson , GA, Gregory (Vickie) Pierce of Atlanta, GA, and Otis Pierce, Nelson (Sue) Pierce, and Jessie (Cassandra) Pierce of Auburndale, FL; sister-in-law, Diane (Robert) Gary; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends .
