Sammy Lee Gilbert, Jr. was born in Camilla, Georgia on August 17, 1970. He was the beloved son of the late Sammy Lee Gilbert, Sr. and Claretha Mitchell Gilbert.
He received his formal education in the Mitchell County System. Throughout school, Sammy was a highly energetic and inquisitive student who gained valuable technical and industrial skills while actively participating in various school functions and activities.
Growing up in a strong Christian home, Sammy was taught the Word of God. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with the Camilla Holiness Church. Through the years, he was a prayerful and humble servant whose faith and trust in God guided his life.
An exceptionally conscientious and persistent individual, Sammy was a dedicated employee at Tyson Foods in Camilla. His strong work ethic and friendly demeanor made him a valued member of his work team. Sammy was self-starter with a keen eye for detail. In addition to his work at Tyson, he also operated a flourishing lawn care business. He was a topnotch lawn care specialist who took great pride in the services he provided. Over the years, he worked diligently to meet the needs of his clients, to provide quality service, and to ensure that his work was flawless.
Devoted husband, loving father, nurturing grandfather, committed brother, caring uncle, unforgettable cousin, and loyal friend, long-lasting relationships were vital to Sammy and a source of great joy and fellowship. He stood ready at all times to help others; never asking anything in return. His kind and generous heart touched many lives in profound and positive ways. He will be dearly missed by all.
On April 29, 2025, Sammy answered the Master's call to eternal peace and rest. Although his departure from this earthly realm leaves a void, he has left indelible footprints that will forever be remembered. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Gilbert; and his nephew, Charrode B. Gilbert.
Loving memories will forever remain with his devoted wife of ten years, Priscilla Gilbert; bonus children, Dominique Harris, Terriana Briggs, and Damarion Wilson; grandchildren, Jaden, Julian, and Bailey; siblings, Deborah (Ernest) Townsell, Sheila G. Williams, Donna (Dennis) Gilbert, Richy (Shakir) Gilbert, and Bridgette G. Williams; sister-in-law, Angela Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
