Sammy Dion Hawkins, son of Theresa Hawkins, was born December 14, 1988, in Albany, Georgia.

He attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Dougherty Comprehensive High School.  He completed the requirements for graduation at the Southwest Georgia Institute of Education.

He was united in marriage to his soul mate, Vanessa.  They shared a bond that was strong and filled with adventure.  As a husband and father, he took great care in providing for his family through his employment as a material handler at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  Family meant the world to him  and one of his greats joys was spending time with them.  He had a deep love for his mother and often touted that he was a "momma's boy."

Out-going, free-spirited, and strong-willed; Sammy lived life boldly and with intense energy.  His love of life, sense of humor and laughter, and energetic personality attracted many people to him, and kept them on their toes. Although his life here was unexpectedly shortened, Sammy created lasting friendships throughout his life that will never be forgotten.

On August 9, 2020, Sammy's earthly journey ended as he entered into eternal rest.  Although his death leaves a void in our hearts, he will be forever present in the lives of all who loved him dearly.

Sammy has loving memories that will be eternally cherished by his wife, Vanessa Hawkins; two children, Diontray Hawkins and Arieanna Hawkins; his mother, Theresa Hawkins; siblings, Malik Hawkins, Anissia Hawkins, Shakiem White, Quintavious Hawkins, and Jamal Hawkins; nephews, Zedekiah White and Cameron Wilson; very special cousins, Katrina Tumblin, Lashawnda Davis, Alexander Williams, Dominique Hawkins, Tatavius Hawkins, Titianna Hawkins, and Channing Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends.
