IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sammy Lee
Ousley
September 30, 1935 – April 10, 2020
Sammy Lee Ousley was born September 30, 1935, in Terrell County, Georgia. He was the beloved son of the late Arelious and Mary Ousley.
During the early years of his life, he received his formal education in the Terrell County School System. He continued his education at Albany Vocational School majoring in Business Administration.
Sammy was raised in a Christian home where he was taught the Word o God and the importance of living a life of integrity, strong character and excellence. At an early age, he professed his faith and belief in Christ and united with the Crawford Grove Baptist Church. He was a dedicated member and served faithfully as a Deacon and Musician/Choir Director. Deacon Ousley loved praising God and many rejoiced as he melodiously ministered in music. He was a devoted servant whose faith never wavered—he was deeply rooted and grounded in the Lord.
He was united in holy matrimony to Mildred Davis and their union was blessed with three children. Deacon Ousley's commitment to his family was a cornerstone of who he was. Not only was he a faithful husband and father, but a loyal and dedicated employee as well. His professional life as an employee of the Marine Corp Logistics Base was diverse and rewarding. No matter what the task, he always took great pride in his work. In 1985, he retired after rendering 38 years of dedicated service.
Deacon Ousley was a very unique man who was full of life, compassionate, loving, and giving. He was an extremely genuine person who greeted each day with a smile and touched the lives of many. You couldn't know him without being inspired by his love and devotion to his family, friends, church, and community.
On April 10, 2020, God called his faithful servant home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Ousley; and five siblings, Patricia Ann Ousley, Arelious Ousley, Jr., Betty Russell, Rubye Pope, and Gladys Hemphill.
Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of his daughters, Cheryl Kaye Ousley and Anita Devon Ousley; four siblings, Ollie Ousley and Pastor Mary Ann Whitley of Albany, GA, Nellie (Joel) Williams of California, and Allie (Kim) Ousley of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Kenneth Ousley of Houston, TX, Kelvin Crawford, Jr. of Albany, GA, and Santiyanna Ousley of Valdosta, GA; twelve great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
