Obituary

Sandra Eady McKenzie, daughter of the late Johnny Lee Eady and Victoria Strong, was born in Albany, Georgia on November 5, 1949.

She received her formal education in the Baker County and Dougherty County School Systems.  Sandra later continued her education in the area of clerical data entry.

Early in life, Sandra accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She was a dedicated member of  Faith Deliverance Church where she served faithfully in numerous capacities.  In later years, she united with Victory Tabernacle Assemblies of God.  She dearly loved the Lord and remained humble and prayerful throughout life's journey.

Sandra was a devoted mother and grandmother who looked well to the ways of her household.  Those who encountered her often described her as a caring, hardworking mother who provided unconditionally for her family and always looked forward to a better future.  For numerous years, she was employed by the Georgia Public Defender's Office during the early years of Judge Willie Lockett's tenure.  No matter what the task, she always gave her very best.

A very loving and kind individual, Sandra saw the beauty in all things, accepted everyone for who they were, and openly welcomed them into her heart and home.  Her doors were always open and her table was always spread with delicious treats for everyone to enjoy.  You could not know her without being inspired by her love and devotion to her family, friends, and community.

On July 15, 2024, Sandra transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest.  She was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew and loved her.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Aurora Wimbish; and her sister, Emma Burton.

Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Gary Thomas, Sunja Harris, Hope Ealey, and Montavious McKenzie; grandchildren, Jessica Wimbish, Johntravious Wimbish, Jonathan Wimbish, Marquise Wimbish, Jazzmine Wimbish, Vanessa Belyea, Lakevia Mingo, Victoria Thomas, Brianna Thomas, McKenzie Harris, Gabriel Tucker, Matthew Ealey, and Makaila Ealey; siblings, Essie Eady, Uzira Eady, Viola Blanchard, Alestine Martin, Marsha Eady, Evelyn Martin, Beverlyn Eady, Johnnie B. Eady, Hope Eady, James Eady, Cecil Eady, Namon Eady, and Gregory Eady; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
