Obituary

Saquanya Lashunta Lewis-Baker was born in Albany, Georgia on July 1, 1973.  She was the beloved daughter of Van Washington and the late Mary Homer Lewis.

In her formative years, she was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Westover High School in 1992.  Saquanya valued education and took advantage of the opportunity to  learn and grow.  At the time of her demise, she was pursuing a degree in Business at Troy State University.

As a youth, Saquanya accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She was a faithful member of Christian Life Missionary Baptist Church and willingly served wherever needed.  She dearly loved the Lord and remained steadfast throughout life's journey.

She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Delando R. Baker.  They shared a love and devotion to each other that was unshakeable.  As a wife and mother, she ate not the bread of idleness and was diligent in her efforts to provide unconditionally for her family.  For numerous years, she worked tirelessly as a Head Cashier at Home Depot of Albany.  Saquanya firmly believed in working for what you want and always being willing to do the right thing.

"Shun" as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was a kind-hearted individual who showed love in many ways.  She was selfless and always had the interest of others at heart.  Through all of life's challenges, she was grateful for everything that came her way; remained strong; and created memories that will never be forgotten.

On July 22, 2020, Saquanya answered the Master's call to eternal peace and rest.  In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Zeric Lanell J'Shon Morton.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Delando R. Baker; children, A'Lexus Lawrence, Eric L. Binn, Jr., Tanarus Weston, Chenelle Hawkins, Delandria Baker, and Ashlyn Mobley; her father, Van Washington; a special niece/daughter, Jameisha Lewis; granddaughters, Zaniyah Morton and Sa'rya Nelson; grandmother, Frankie M.
