Shalanda Renae Clay Massey, beloved daughter of the late Frankie Mae Thomas and Robert Lee Wallace, Sr., was born in Albany, Georgia on October 17, 1971.

She was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Westover High School in 1989. Throughout her school years, she enjoyed a very active and well-rounded educational experience.  She continued her quest for knowledge at Meadows College of Business where she earned a degree in Organizational Leadership in 1992.  A life-long learner, Shalanda later attended Albany Technical College.

Shalanda was a devoted mother and grandmother who took great care in providing for her family through her employment at Bethel Housing Complex and Homerun Foods.  Over the years, she worked tirelessly to ensure that no task was ever left undone—always giving her very best.   Shay, as she was endearingly called, was full of energy, stayed on the move, and was well organized—everything had its place!  Anyone visiting her home could readily see that she was an immaculate housekeeper who firmly believed that cleanliness was next to godliness.  She was a hardworking, determined individual who never shied away from a challenge.

A kind and very generous lady, Shay had a servant's heart and always stood ready to help others or lend a listening ear.  Many people considered her a trusted friend whose doors were always open.  She was the kind of person that anyone would be proud to call mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

On Friday, June 13, 2025, Shalanda transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest.  Though her earthly departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, her caring spirit will always be remembered.

Cherished memories will forever remain with children, Daleshia Clay, De'Erica Clay, and Eric Clay; her siblings, Luciana (Charlie) Barrett, Myra Thomas, Tamkel Corbett, Dr. Natasha (Joe) Wallace Jones, Sevren (Christal) Wallace, Sr. Roszita James, and Woodrow Thomas, Jr.; grandchildren, Demorian, Kemorian, Travoski, Serenity, Braylen, Travious, Harmony and Ari; very special nieces and nephews, Eugene Byrd, Jr., Quameshia Byrd, Jabori Frazier, Alaysia Thomas, Kivolski Thomas, Demond Thomas, Corya Thomas, and Jay Thomas; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
