Obituary

Shelley James Keaton was born to late Lorenzo Keaton Sr. and Katie Keaton on November 2, 1950 in Albany, Georgia.

Shelley accepted Christ at an early age and became amember of Beulah Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia.  He also attended Dougherty County Public Schools in Albany, where he excelled in mathematics.  While he was in school, he sold newspapers for the Southwest Georgian Newspaper. Since Shelley truly loved music, he later became a disc jockey (D.J.) for WJIZ radio station, and he adopted the radio name, "Shelley the Playboy. " Eventually, he left radio and became a very successful D.J. in his own right. As a D.J., he traveled all over the statespinning records and he made many lifelong friends.

Shelley James Keaton departed this life on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at his home in Albany, Georgia.  He leaves to cherish his memories; a loving mother, Katie Keaton (Albany); 4 sons, Brett Keaton and Brandon Keaton (Albany), Rodney Keaton (Shreveport, La.) and Markie Keaton (New York); 2 brothers, Jesse (Mary) Keaton and Lorenzo (Faye) Keaton (Albany); 4 sisters, Delories Miller (Canton, Ohio), Dr. Mollie Keaton (Atlanta), Dr. Loras Keaton (Atlanta), and

Grace Williams (Albany); devoted uncle, Benjamin (Catherine) Thomas (Albany), 3 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Juanita Stroud Keaton, a brother Willie James Keaton, and his father Lorenzo Keaton Sr.
