Obituary

Shenika Antionette Mency was born in Albany, Georgia on October 11, 1989. She was the daughter of the Calvin Lamar and Mishelle Gordon.

She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System.

Shenika was a mild-mannered, good-hearted individual with an endless reservoir of love for family and friends. She had a spirit of sunshine, humor, and laughter that could be felt by everyone around her. Shenika was outgoing and caring, and she had a strong will to overcome any obstacle in life that was handed to her. She laughed often, felt unbridled happiness, and loved unconditionally. One of her finest qualities was gratitude. Even in the midst of disability challenges, she was always grateful for every good thing that came her way. Shenika was the kind of person that anyone would be proud to call daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, or friend. She was an angel on earth who left an indelible impression on all of our lives.

Music was an integral part of Shenika's life. She had a fondness for dancing and often showed off her "special moves." Shenika also enjoyed engaging family and friends in endless hours of conversation. We all were beneficiaries because her enthusiasm and exuberance were contagious and memorable.

On April 28, 2020, Shenika was called to eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary Lamar and Daniel Lamar, Sr.

Loving memories will be forever cherished by her parents, Calvin Lamar and Mishelle (Johnny) Gordon; siblings, Venezia (Quan) Nix, Taniyka Mency, Shaquana Gordon, Angela Key, Daquarius Foster, Jaylin Hosley, and Letrell Hosley; grandmother, Carrie B. Mency; uncles, Morris Mency, Jr., Henry Mency, and Daniel Lamar, Jr., and Eugene Lamar; aunts, Sabrina Cutts, Princess (Addrick) Thomas, and Rhonda Lamar; nieces and nephew, Bre'Asia Nix, Nariah Nix, and Dylan Foster; two very dear and special cousins, Tahillary (Brandon) Williams and Diesheka Mency; cousins, Iye'yonna Mency, Latarren Mency, Jacobie Mency, Emanuel Mency, Cincona Williams, and Brandon Williams, Jr.; and a host of extended family and friends.
