Sir Willie Hosely, son of the late Eddie Hosely and Eddie Mae Hosely, was born in Terrell County, Georgia on March 21, 1939.
He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System, where he actively participated in numerous school events and activities. Believing strongly in life-long learning, Sir Willie continued his education at Albany State College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
In 1956, Sir Willie enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed throughout the United States and abroad, and served his country with distinction. He was a soldier to the core and the discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him. During his military career, he was the recipient of numerous awards and commendations as he advanced through the ranks. At the close of his final military assignment, he was recognized for his valiant years of active duty service; received an honorable medical discharge; and returned home to civilian life. Never satisfied with idleness, Sir Willie became a major fixture in the community through his involvement in public service activities. He was an extremely driven individual who gave his best at all times.
Sir Willie was not only a brave and loyal soldier, but a patient and loving husband as well. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Alma. With this union they were blessed with wonderful children whom they loved dearly. Sir Willie was profoundly devoted to his family and friends. He was a supportive and devoted father who, through the years, brought the perfect balance in his children's lives. As a father and grandfather, he was a gentle but stern disciplinarian who taught his children to be respectful and kind. He was an incredible brother, cousin, and friend who loved the people in his life with heartfelt sincerity and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed by family and friends who dearly loved him.
