IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stevie Lamar
Bowens
June 7, 1966 – August 21, 2022
Stevie Lamar Bowens son of Betty Toomer and the late K. C. Harris, was born in Albany, Georgia on June 7, 1966.
He attended the public schools of Dougherty County where he was active in various student events and activities.
In February 2004, Stevie was united in marriage to Tera McGill. Together, they worked diligently to provide a home filled with love and strong values for their children and grandchildren. Stevie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who would go the extra mile and beyond to provide for his family.
Over the years, he took pride in the services that he provided at Food Lion, Mellow Mushroom, Albany State University, Wal-Mart, and other employment venues in the Albany Area. He was a very conscientious worker who was totally committed to his job and looked upon each task with equal measure.
Stevie believed strongly in family ties and responsibilities and savored the time spent with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and could always find the silver lining in any situation. When in his presence, there was never a dull moment and he enjoyed making people laugh. His thoughtfulness, kind deeds, engaging personality, and willingness to help others were testaments to who he was. In his leisure, he enjoyed playing basketball and watching his favorite team—Alabama on gameday.
On Sunday, August 21, 2022, Stevie departed this earthly life at his residence. The bonds of friendship that he developed throughout his life will forever be remembered and cherished.
Loving memories will constantly remain in the hearts of his beloved wife, Tera McGill-Bowens of Albany, GA; his children, Shakeria Bowens, Shonteria Bowens, Jaylan Bowens, Laquan Clinton, and Dewayne Colbert all of Albany, GA, and Stevie (Alicia) Bowens, Jr. of LaGrange, GA; his loving mother, Betty Toomer of Albany, GA; sister, Monica (Otis) Moore of Leesburg, GA; mother-in-law, Della McGill of Albany, GA; niece, Kwanesia (Kannard) Bass of Lexington, SC; ten grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
