IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Terry Ellis,
Sr.
April 18, 1956 – August 27, 2017
Terry Ellis, Sr., son of the late Willie James Dorsey and Annie Pearl Ellis, was born in Albany, Georgia on April 18, 1956.
He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System where he participated in various school functions and activities.
He was united in holy matrimony to his beloved Shirley—a union that endured for 26 years. They were blessed with loving children and took great care in their upbringing. Over the years, Terry was diligent in caring for the needs of his family. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for 33 years. He labored untiringly through the years until his health declined.
Terry was a devoted husband, loving father, and caring friend. He loved unconditionally and taught his family to persevere and stick together through the trials and triumphs of life.
On Sunday, August 27, 2017, Terry's earthly journey quietly ended and he entered eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Annie Bell Mairel, Harry Leon Ellis, and Augusta C. Ellis.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his beloved wife, Shirley D. Ellis; six children, Erica Adams, Keisa Perry, Imarii (Grant) Freelove, Terry (Sheila) Ellis, Jr., Terrynce Ellis, and Cowandta Leeks; two sisters, Malinda Hicks and Kimberly (Rufus) Ingram; an aunt and uncle, Mary Ellis and Levance Ellis, Sr.; nine grandchildren, Andre, Shaundric, Danielle, Darius, Dasha, Tayari, Imaya, Terrynce Jr., and Grant Jr.; two great grandchildren, Isaac and Braylen; a godchild, Hannah Cheeks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
