Obituary

Thad Johnson, son of the late Willie Johnson, Sr. and Willie Mae Johnson, was born in Albany, Georgia on November 20, 1952.

He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System where he participated in various school organizations, activities, and events.

Throughout his childhood, Thad was nurtured in the word of God.  At  an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with the Phillip Grove Baptist Church.  Over the years, he was a faithful servant of the Lord and willingly served wherever needed.

He was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Chaline Lou Hughes.  Their union  endured over a period of 36 years as they honored their vows to love and cherish each other.  As a devoted husband and father, Thad was diligent in caring for the needs of his family and ensuring their happiness.  Through the years, he taught his children the value of hard work as he labored untiringly at the Fiat Plant.  He was a loyal and reliable employee and prided himself in a job well done.

Family and friends meant the world to Thad and he delighted in spending quality time with them—especially his grandchildren who held the key to his heart.  He was a kind, generous man who greeted each day with a smile and was always "on call" to help anyone in need.  He had a big heart for all things in life.  Thad was the best father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend that anyone could ever have.  He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.

On June 18, 2020, Thad finished his course and was called to eternal rest.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Chaline Lou Hughes Johnson; two sons, Justin Johnson and Joshua Johnson; and two sisters, Evonne Johnson and Genn Frazier.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his children, India (Gary) Pate, Thad Whitehead, Jackiling (Jimmy) Pitts,  Nathaniel Hughes, Natalie Hughes, Courtney Johnson, Thaddeus Johnson, and Nostalgia Johnson;  siblings, Willie Johnson and Essie Holman; grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; a very special friend, Julie Fletcher; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
