Mr. Thomas Benton Jr. was born June 21, 1945, to the late Thomas Benton Sr. and Carrie Bell Benton.
Thomas received his formal education through the Baker County Public School System. Thomas continued his education attending the Monroe Area Vocational School, where he majored in bricklaying. Thomas took this training and began what turned out to be a lifelong career as a contractor/ brick mason. Thomas was very proud of being responsible for the building of several churches and homes in the South Georgia area. Thomas utilized his skills and training to teach others which includes his brothers, nephews, and friends his craft.
Thomas Benton was a devoted member of the Greater 2nd Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he served for over forty years. Thomas loved his family, enjoyed singing, and sharing jokes with all.
Thomas Benton Jr. departed this physical realm on Saturday, February 24, 2024, accompanied by his sister Ann Laverne Benton of Pontiac, Michigan and they were greeted by their parents, their sister Theresa, and their brothers Levi, Jerry, Barney, Ivory Joe, and Bennie.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memories, daughters: Evelyn Benton Phelan (David) of Orlando FL, Linda Benton Hall, of Orlando FL; Stepdaughter: Tasha Lang of Columbus GA; Son: Tyrone Benton (Kawanda) of Atlanta GA; Eight grandchildren: Tiffane, Horace, Jahnilya, Tyrone Jr., Tyrone III, Gizelle, Nathan, and Noelle; One great grandchild: Danielle; Four sisters: Eunice Benton Branner (Edward), Rutha Lee Musgraves, Cora Lee Musgraves, and Jeanette Benton Thompson (Emmett Jr.); One brother Willie Lee Benton (Lucile); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
