IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Dixon,
Sr.
August 24, 1944 – July 13, 2017
Thomas Dixon, Sr. blessed his parents, the late Henry and Luella Dixon, with his birth on August 24, 1944, in Dawson, Terrell County, Georgia.
He received his formal education in the public schools of Dougherty County, including Monroe Senior High School where he participated in various school functions and activities.
Upon professing his faith and belief in the Lord, Thomas united with the St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully wherever needed.
Realizing that marriage is ordained by God, Thomas was united in holy matrimony to his beloved Willie Mae Grant. This union endured for 50 years and was blessed with a son, Thomas Jr., who was a source of joy and pride in his life. As a devoted husband and father, Thomas looked well to the ways of his household and labored tirelessly through the years to provide for his family. His employment included food service in New York, brick masonry, and building construction.
Thomas was an incredible husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who loved his family dearly and would do anything in his power to help them. He was also a selfless person who was always willing to help others without asking anything in return.
On Thursday, July 13, 2017, his season of life ended and he entered into eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ora Polk, Florence Edwards, and Claresa Dixon.
Loving memories will be cherished by his beloved wife, Willie Mae Grant Dixon; his son, Thomas Anthony Dixon, Jr.; four brothers, Robert Lee Dixon, Albert Dixon, Johnny (Ethel) Dixon all of Albany, and Henry (Rose) Dixon of Florida; his mother-in-law, Leila Grant of Albany, GA; sister-in-law, Bessie (Isiah) Floyd of Atlanta, GA; two brothers-in-aw, Hardwick Grant and Levine (Matilda) Grant of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
