Time to Be Born: Thomas Lee Washington was born in Albany, Georgia on March 6, 1942. He was the beloved son of the late John Thomas Washington, Sr. and Evelena Hudley Washington.
A Time to Learn: He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School. While at Monroe, he was actively involved in numerous school activities and events.
A Time to Worship: Growing up in a strong Christian home, Thomas was nurtured in the Word of God. As a youth, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior; was baptized and received the right hand of fellowship into the body of Christ at Union Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W. M. Davis.
A Time to Work: A highly motivated, persistent, and conscientious individual, Thomas was employed with various businesses in Albany and the surrounding area for many years. He was a dedicated worker who labored untiringly to provide quality service. In later years, he relocated to Boca Grande, Florida in search of greater advancement opportunities. Thomas was a self-starter with a keen eye for detail. As his interest in landscaping and lawn maintenance heightened, he became an avid, topnotch lawn care specialist. Who took great pride in the services he provided. Through the years, he worked diligently to meet the needs of his clients and to ensure that his work was flawless. Thomas retired after many years of unmatched service when faced with declining health challenges.
A Time to Love: Thomas was a devoted father whose children and grandchildren were at the center of his life; and he showered them with unconditional love. He believed strongly in family ties, gave of himself freely, and took special interest in events that brought family and friends together in love and harmony. He was a man of principle and simplicity who loved his family and friends unreservedly, never met a stranger, and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
A Time to Embrace: "Bo," as he was affectionately called, was a jovial, free-spirited individual who embraced life with open arms and intense energy. His gigantic smile and engaging personality readily captured the attention of everyone around him and kept them on their toes. When in his presence, there was never a dull moment. In his leisure, he enjoyed watching westerns; could often be found fishing or basking in the sun; or taking a "road trip" back to Georgia to spend time with family and friends, creating lasting memories.
A Time to Rest: Thomas faced the sunset life's earthly season on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Advent Health at Wesley Chapel in Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Elaine Washington; stepdaughter, Mary Ann Favor; brother, John Thomas Washington, Jr., and his nephew, Reginald Washington.
A Time to Cherish: Precious memories will forever be cherished by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Wilson Washington; his daughter, Tisha LaDean Wilson of Land O' Lakes, FL; stepson, Michael Parks; siblings, Delacy Washington Green of Jackson, NC and Gertrude Washington of Albany, GA; sister-in-law, Natalie Montgomery; grandchildren, Paul Eason of New Mexico, Terrell Eason of Jonesboro, GA, Najee Washington of Jonesboro, GA, Cavour Squires, Nigel Squires, and Malik Squires all of Tampa, FL, Zariya Squires of Chicago, IL; a very special niece and nephew, Dr. Sandra Washington and Ricky Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
