IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tommy Lee
Haggins, Sr.
July 11, 1951 – December 6, 2022
The journey of life for Tommy Lee Haggins, Sr. began in Pahokee, Florida on July 11, 1951. He was the beloved son of the late Tom Watson Hagines and Ruby Lee Thomas.
He was educated in the Pahokee Public School System where he garnered much from his educational experiences and was actively involved in various student organizations, activities, and events.
While yet a teen, his family relocated to Madison, Florida for an extended period of time; and later, to Albany, Georgia. Tommy was a very outgoing, likeable young man with a contagious smile and laugh that would light up any room. After meeting Bertha Council, they became "one" and their union was blessed with two children—Tammy and Tommy Jr. #1. In later years, an astounding romance ensued between Tommy and Willie Mae Chatman and they were joined in holy matrimony on May 2, 1973. With their union, three children were born—Tommy #2, Tonya and James.
Tommy was no stranger to hard work and labored untiringly as a truck driver with Albany Hauling and Refuse Sanitation Service for many years. He later worked as a laborer with various businesses in Albany and surrounding areas. Tommy was the "go-to-guy" who everyone relied upon to get the job done; but, he never shied away from a challenge and tackled each task with equal measure. Always searching for better opportunities, he accepted employment with Keystone Foods of Camilla, Georgia. Throughout his employment, he maintained an exemplary work record and gave his BEST until he retired in 2019.
Outspoken yet understanding, "Mr. T" as he was endearingly called, was well known for his common logic and uncanny view of things. He loved his family and friends unconditionally and delighted in spending time with them. He was a man everyone could count on and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
On December 6, 2022, Tommy transitioned to eternal peace and rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Bernard Hagines; stepchildren, Tracy S. Watkins and Joe Williams; and his brother, Willie James Hagines.
Precious memories will forever be cherished by his children, Tammy D. Hagines, Tommy L. Hagines #1 (Sheronda), Tommy L. Hagines #2 (Lupita), and Tonya M. Hagines (Vernon; stepdaughter, Elouise Williams; siblings, Robert Ford, Mary Hagines, Nelson Hagines, Frankie Turner, and Evelyn Hampton (Jake; aunt, Ruth Anderson; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
