Obituary

Life's journey for Tommy Louis Young began on November 3, 1950, in Sylvester, Georgia.  He was the second oldest son of Minnie Pearl Young and the late George Young.

He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School.  While at Monroe, he was an exceptional "Tornado" football player.  Tommy also had a love for the arts, especially drawing and writing, and constantly pushed himself to learn more and more.

A very unique and astounding individual, Tommy was dedicated to his faith and took advantage of every opportunity to preach to others about the walks of life in its entirety.   He was a source of guidance and wisdom for many and served with passion throughout his life.

Tommy was joined in marriage to Eddie Mae Caine Henderson on May 1, 1992.  Together, they created a home filled with love and strong family values. Through the years, he proved to be a true anchor to his wife and a strong support system for their children.  He was profoundly devoted to his family and delighted in supporting them in all their endeavors.

Often referred to as "the medicine man," Tommy was a holistic farmer who worked unceasingly with soil, nature, and water to grow high quality plants that enabled him to perfect and produce infinite herbal therapies.  Oftentimes, he could be found reading and researching countless materials to further enhance his unquenchable appetite for knowledge.  Not only was he an avid reader and gardener, Tommy also exercised daily—as it was a routine that gave him strength and inner-peace.

On January 14, 2024, Tommy transitioned from this earthly journey.  Although his departure leaves a void, his spirit will live on in those left behind.

Precious memories will forever be cherished by his devoted wife of 31 years, Eddie Mae Young; his daughter, Oreesha Young; beloved mother, Minnie Pearl Young; siblings, Gloria (Nelson) Ware, Ali "Quincy Young" Ishaq, and Cynthia (Stanley) Brown all of Albany, GA, Sharon (Clifford) Graham of Brunswick, GA, and Dexter (Gloria Ann) Young of Fayetteville, GA;  step-children, Walter Henderson, Jr., Eric Henderson, and Marcia Henderson; grandchildren, Jasmine Warren, Deonta Forest, and Lawre'al Randle; great granddaughter, Maliyah Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
