Obituary

Truda Laverne Johnson was born April 1, 1957, to the late Julia Wheeler and raised by Prince and Nellie Johnson of Englishtown, New Jersey.  She was the eighth of thirteen children.

She received her primary and secondary education in the Englishtown School District.  Truda was a very considerate, attentive young lady with a yearning to be of service and help others.  After moving to Albany, Georgia, she  attended Albany Junior College and earned an associate degree in Nursing.  In later years, she received both the bachelor and master's degree in nursing.

At an early age, Truda accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She dearly loved the Lord and remained spiritually throughout life's journey.

Truda was a loving and caring mother who was diligent in caring for the needs of her family through her nursing career with various medical facilities in Southwest Georgia and New Jersey.  She had a natural gift for serving  and was most conscientious in caring for her patients with dignity, respect, and true compassion.

"Ms. Truda," as she was affectionately called, had a big heart and a welcoming spirit.  She believed deeply in unconditional love and stood ready to help anyone in need—always with a smile and never asking anything in return.  Her contagious laugh, stylish wigs, and awesome makeup were deemed as "signature trademarks".   Indeed, she had a true style and flair of her own that will long be remembered by family and friends.

On Saturday, July 30, 2022, Truda transitioned from this earthly life surrounded by loved ones.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight siblings, Ethel Marshall, Harold Otey, Arthur Wheeler, James Wheeler, Robert Wheeler, Walter Johnson, Steve Otey, and Olive Johnson.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her children, Michael (Phyllis), Dannell, Thomia, Vance, Tommy Jr., and Vannetta (Eugene); siblings, Frances, Haywood, Dorothy (Terry), and Donna; eight grandchildren, Jacorey, Brianna, Micaela, Michael, Nygel, Brandon, Chase, and Dannetta; great grandchildren, Makaylah, Nova, Jacorey Jr., Maci, Calvin, and Cassidy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
