Obituary

Valerie Nicole Hagines-Fowler, daughter of Tammy D. Hagines and Rodderick Pace, Sr., was born October 28, 1982., in Albany, Georgia.

She received her formal education in both the Norfolk Public School District (Norfolk, VA) and the Dougherty  County School System, graduating in 2002.  She continued her education at Albany Technical College where she earned an Associate degree in Culinary Arts.

At a very young age, Valerie professed her faith in Jesus Christ and united with the First Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Jake Edwards.  She remained steadfast and prayerful throughout life's journey.

Valerie was united in marriage to Kertez Fowler.  She was a devoted wife and mother who worked diligently to provide unconditionally for her family.  For numerous years, she was an employee of Subway; took great pride in her work; and stayed the course until all tasks were completed.  She later joined the ranks of employees with the Dougherty County School System where she was a dedicated worker.

A beautiful free-spirited individual, Valerie as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend.  She had the ability to turn an ordinary day into an adventure, a chore into an activity, and a boring evening into a memory.  Her one-of-a-kind personality attracted a wide circle of people who became the recipients of a long, loving, and lasting friendship.  She noticed the beauty in everything and the good in everyone; especially with the younger family members who affectionately referred to her as "Momma Val and Auntie Val."

On October 4, 2020, she transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest.  She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Bertha Counsel; aunt, Monique Holt, and her uncle, Joe Williams.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her husband, Kertez Fowler; her son, Ja'Michael Fowler; parents, Tammy D. Hagines and Rodderick Pace, Sr.; stepson, Cameron Fowler; grandfather, Tommy Lee Hagines, Sr.; brothers, Raphael (Taquita) Newton and Rodderick (Alishia) Pace, Jr.; aunts and uncles, Elouise (Eugene) Williams, Johnnie (Anthony) Larkin, Barbara Demps, Tony (Alvin) Swinney, Stephanie (Roger) Shedrick, Heather Johnson, Tommy (Sheronda) Hagines, Jr., and Tommy Lee (Lupita) Hagines; great aunts and uncles, Mary L. Hagines, Frankie Turner, Evelyn (Jake) Hamilton, Robert Ford, and Nelson Hagines; god-siblings, Donnie Jackson, Michael Foser, and Jennifer (Brian) Burnette; and a host of other relatives and friends.
