Obituary

Valerie D. Ingram was born in Albany, Georgia on September 10, 1961.  She was the beloved daughter of Martha Fenney Ingram and the late Alford Ingram.

She received her early childhood and secondary education in the public schools of Dougherty County.  Throughout her school years, she excelled academically and was actively involved in various student organizations and activities.   Believing strongly in higher education, Valerie attended Albany State University where she earned a master's degree.

A woman of great faith and belief in Christ Jesus, Valerie was a longtime member of Sherwood Baptist Church of Albany.  She was a steadfast, powerful prayer warrior who spread the gospel to those she met through her acts of service and words of witness.

Valerie was a very persistent, conscientious, and independent individual whose professional career with the Internal Revenue Service was marked by hard work and unquestionable integrity. For over thirty years, she worked diligently to help others and continually pursue excellence until her demise.

Blessed to have been nurtured in a small, close-knit family, Valerie had a big, generous heart and opened the umbrella of her love in countless ways.  Upon the passing of her father and brother, she unreservedly became the protector and overseer of her family.  Her life exemplified one of love, faith, strength, forgiveness, commitment, kindness, humility, and unconditional self-sacrifice.  She was always there to help her family—never asking anything in return.

On Saturday, September 17, 2022, Valerie transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest.  Although her departure seemed all too soon, we are comforted in knowing that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."   In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ricky Ingram.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her mother, Martha F. Ingram; her youngest brother, Alonzo (Francine) Ingram; nieces and nephews, Chiquita Ingram, Kimberly Ingram, Allon Ingram (Charity Franklin), and Alex Ingram (Lillie Ingram); great nieces and nephew, Tarvarous Anthony Williams, Jr., Zy'kerria Anderson, and Nova Mars Ingram; sister-in-law, Liz Ingram; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
