IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Valerie Dinette
Nixon
February 18, 1970 – May 18, 2024
Valerie Dinnette Nixon was born in Camilla, Georgia on February 18, 1970. She was the daughter of Alice C. Macon and the late Willie C. Williams.
She attended Jerger Elementary School, Douglas Middle School, and Thomasville High School. A very considerate and attentive young lady with a zeal to be of service and help others, Valerie completed the requirements for her GED and CNA certification at Thomas Technical College in Thomasville, Georgia.
After relocating to Albany, Georgia, Valerie began her fellowship with Christ. She dearly loved the Lord and remained steadfast throughout life's journey.
Valerie's work ethics developed very early while spending summer breaks on the farm with her grandparents, the late George and Nina Cochran. There, she learned life-long core values of honesty, hard work, and perseverance. As she began her professional career, still passionate about helping others, Valerie worked as a CNA in various healthcare settings. She had a natural gift for serving and making a difference, and was very conscientious in providing care to her patients with dignity, respect, and true compassion. In later years after meeting her life partner, William Barnes, Sr., they ventured into professional cleaning services which proved to be a very rewarding work experience that was marked by high expectations and unquestionable integrity.
Affectionately known as NiNi, a name penned to her by her late grandson Rahboo, Valerie was a caring and generous individual who saw the beauty in all things; was most sensitive to the needs of others; accepted everyone for who they were; and openly welcomed family and friends into her heart and home. She was a loving daughter, an extraordinary mother and grandmother, a committed sister and nurturing aunt, a loyal niece and cousin, and the best friend anyone could ever hope for. Her kind and gentle spirit will always have a very special place in the hearts of all who knew and loved her dearly. In her leisure, she enjoyed watching crime series; listening to the sounds of her favorite artists, including Keith Sweat, R. Kelly, and Kevin Gates; playing games on her phone; and engaging in a rivaled game of spades where players were often warned, "Don't hold no pretty cards".
On May 18, 2024, Valerie transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest. In addition to her father and beloved grandparents, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Robert D. Nixon and James E. Nixon.
Cherished memories will forever remain with her mother, Alice C. Macon; four daughters, Erica D. Nixon, Trinity D. Nixon, Gina D. (Octavian) Walton, and Sinclair D. Nixon; her life partner, William Barnes, Sr.; grandchildren, Kareem, Ka'ren, Daizyana, Passion, Zion, Azyriah, Octavian Jr., Oliyah, Zaqyarius, Jamal, Octaviaus, Willazia, Willie III, Carmen, and Lanoris; great grandchildren, Ry'Lynn, Karter, Everleigh, and Kensley; siblings, Cassandra (Maurice) Williams and Travis (Melissa) Dale; best friend, Angela Edwards; one niece, Erie Wilkins; three nephews, Christopher Dale, Demetrius Sexion, and Dontavious Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
