The Time-Line of Vince Allen Gilyard's Life
Vince Allen Gilyard was a very kind and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest.
A Time to Be Born: May 23, 1959.
A Time to Learn: Vince was educated in the Dougherty County School System; a 1978 graduate of Albany High School.
A Time to Serve the Lord: Vince confessed his love for Christ at a very early age. When he returned home after completing his US Navy career, he joined the Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jack Johnson.
A Time to Work: In 1978, Vince graduated from boot camp in Great Lake, IL in the United States Navy. He served faithfully for 20 years. He worked as a Civil Service worker for 10 1/2 years at Warner Robins Air Force Base.
A Time to Love: In 1982, Vince returned home for the love of his life, Jacqueline Barrett Gilyard. They were joined in the holy union of marriage in August of that same year.
A Time for Family: Vince and Jacqueline shared a lifetime of joy and love with their three sons, Rodney Bailey and Robert Gilyard of Albany, GA and Reginald Gilyard of Dallas, TX. He was a very proud grandfather of ten beautiful grandchildren that he loved and cherished.
Vince was a very faithful son to his mother, Mrs. Bennie Mae Davis. His father, Roger Lewis, preceded him in death.
Vince was a very special brother to his siblings, Roger Lewis (Carol), Vicki Lewis, Lisa Wood, and Joanne Lewis all of Albany, GA, and Melody Anthony of Stone Mountain, GA.
He always made time to show love to his extended family, a mother-in-law, Mrs. Marie Barrett; sisters-in-law, Patricia Hill, Sandra O'Neal, and Minister Mary Edwards all of Albany, GA, and Pamela Barrett McCoggle who preceded him in death; brothers-in-law, Charlie Barrett, Jr., Charlie Rouse (Barbara), Zachary McCoggle, and Bruce Ervin Baylis all of Albany, GA.
A Time to Die: On Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Vince transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest.
Vince had a love for music rocking his head from side to side. Our prayer is that Vince is somewhere around God's throne, sitting at the welcome table, feasting on milk and honey, shouting and never getting tired, servant well done, well done.
