Obituary

The journey of life for Virginia Hill Murray began in Baker County, Georgia on December 27, 1931. She was the beloved daughter of the late Jack Hill, Sr. and Rebecca Williams Hill.

During the early years of her life, she received her formal education in the Pelham City School System.

She was united in holy matrimony to Willie James "WD" Murray and their union endured through the years. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who devoted her life to caring for the needs of her family. Her love for her children was always constant, unconditional, accepting, and forgiving.

Blessed beyond measure, Mother Murray reached the hallowed age of 88 years old. She lived to see generations of her off-springs with whom she left a legacy of love, humility, and generosity. Oftentimes during her life, she reminisced about her childhood and humble beginnings. She was a kind and generous person who greeted each day with smile and touched the lives of people around her in a very special way. You couldn't know her without being inspired by her love and devotion to her family, friends, and community. Cooking and fishing were among her greatest life pleasures.

On January 23, 2020, Mother Murray departed this life at the Pelham Parkway Nursing Home in Pelham, Georgia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie James Murray; children, Merita Daniels, James Murray, and Amos Murray; siblings, Katie Mae Robinson, Annie Mae McDonald, Lester Hill, Jack Hill, Jr., and Will Frank Hill; and a goddaughter, Lizzie Cooper.

Left with many loving memories to cherish are her sons, Joe (Mary Jo) Murray, Jimmy (Lavetta) Murray, and William (Maeliza) Murray all of Camilla, GA, Arthur Lee (Clara) Murray of Pelham, GA, Clifford (Thefred) Murray, and Roosevelt (Edith) Murray both of Miami, FL; sister, Ella Mae Hightower of Orlando, FL; a devoted granddaughter, Bridgette Harris; godson, Terry Moore; innumerable grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
