Obituary

Virginia Dale Williams, daughter of the late Rufus and Mae Catherine Williams, was born in Moultrie, Georgia on March 23, 1954 and raised in Doerun, Georgia. She received her formal education in the public schools of Colquitt County and continued her education at Albany Technical College.

During the early years of her life, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.
After passing a civil service exam, Virginia began her civil service career in 1974 as a card punch operator on the Marin e Corps Logistics Base Albany. Her service spanned 41 years, retiring in December 2015 as Information Technology Supervisor.
Virginia's leadership and strong commitment to service was also evident in her personal life. She was an active member of the Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church and Senior Choir, a community volunteer, foster parent for Dougherty County and a mother figure to many.
On Tuesday, August 13, 2019, she transitioned from this earthly life at home surrounded by her family. In addition to her father (Rufus L. Williams, Sr.), she was preceded in death by brother (Rufus Williams, Jr.), grandmother (Aomia P. Stewart), niece (Kodi Roberts) and nephew (Jerell Hill).
Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of her three sons Harold Gaines (Lashenna) of Indian Trail NC, Breon Williams of Warner Robins, GA and Vernon Williams of Albany, GA; children Derrick Lewis, Zipporah Lewis and Bailee Lewis whom she accepted the role as earthly mother in the latter years of her life, mother, Mae Catherine of Doerun, GA, siblings, Antoinette Roberts of Albany, GA, Wilma Hill of Doerun, GA, Stacey Williams (Traci) of Moultrie, GA, Liz Taylor(Todd) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Zachary Williams (Denise) of Chesapeake, VA, Patrick Williams (Shanondra) of Atlanta, GA, sister-in-law, Violet Williams of Sylvester, GA, grandchildren, Kenzi Williams and Cameron Gaines, goddaughter, Stacy Duarte and a host of nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
