Obituary

Vivian Cassandra Sanders was born in Calhoun County, Georgia on  December 29, 1960.  She was the eighth of nine children born to the late Willie and Mavis Lee Sanders.

She received her early childhood and secondary education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School in 1978.  Throughout school, Jackie was a very lively, energetic young lady who was a ray of sunshine to teachers, fellow classmates, and close friends.  She continued her education at Albany State College (University).

Very early in life, Vivian accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior; was baptized; and united with Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Morgan, Georgia.  Her spiritual foundation and faith in God made her resilient and enabled her to live a life full of meaning and purpose.

Vivian was a loving and caring mother who looked well to the ways of her household.  She was blessed not only with children, but also grandchildren who were a source of joy and pride in her life.  For many years, she worked untiringly as a paralegal for numerous local law firms.  She was a top-notch organizer and assistant who worked behind the scenes to support attorneys and office staff.  In addition to her full-time employment, she also assisted many individuals with tax preparation.  She was strong, fearless, independent, and always put others first!

Often described as a very outspoken yet gentle and kind individual,  Vivian was the rock and foundation for so many people.  She never hesitated to extend her warmth, care, and kindness to family, friends, and even strangers.  In her leisure, she enjoyed westerns, mysteries, and musicals—even those in black and white.  She was also an avid reader and was known for her natural "wordsmithing" ability.  Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of her life.

On February 1, 2025, Vivian transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace with the Lord.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Austin; and four brothers, Clarence, George, Jackie, and Kenny; and one uncle, Bennie Butler.

Cherished memories will forever remain with her loving daughters, Kamaria Stokes of Albany, GA and Alexa Stokes of Macon, GA; siblings, Ella S. (William) Teal and Gwendolyn Sanders of Macon, GA, and Albert G. (Earthera) Sanders and Anthony B. (Robin) Sanders of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Leroy Williams, Javianna Stokes, Logan Stokes, and Kamani Stokes; aunts Mildred Butler and Lucy (Bobby) Zachery; and a host of nieces,  nephews, great nieces and nephews,  cousins, and friends.
