IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter Chambers,
Sr.
May 15, 1947 – January 1, 2021
Walter Chambers, Sr. was born in Dawson, Georgia on May 15, 1947. He was the beloved son of the late Aresa Chambers and the late Essie Mae Knighton.
He received his formal education in the Terrell County School System, graduating with honors from Terrell County High School in 1966. Throughout his school years, he was actively involved in numerous student organizations and activities. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country with honor and distinction.
From a very early age, he was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support. As a youth, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and began his steadfast journey with the Lord. Apostle Chambers was a powerful man of God whose in-depth biblical teaching was immeasurable and his ability to minister in song was profound. You could not know him without being inspired by his anointing from on High; his unfaltering devotion to his church, Lion of Judah International Ministries where he served under the leadership of his son, Apostle Walter C. Chambers, Jr.; and his unconditional love for his fellow man. He was compassionate and humble, unyielding in his 20-year ministry and service, and willingly shared words of wisdom and encouragement with all who would listen. His faith and trust in God guided his life and allowed him to be an example for all who came in contact with him.
Apostle Chambers was loving husband and dedicated father whose family was the joy of his life. For more than 30 years, he worked untiringly at Firestone Tire and Rubber Plant to provide unconditionally for his family and to ensure their well-being. He was a loyal, dedicated employee who took great pride in his work until his retirement. Apostle Chambers had a servant's heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His friendliness and kindness to all people are lasting tributes to the beauty of his heart and soul. The strong bonds of friendship that he developed throughout his life will forever be cherished and remembered.
Shortly after witnessing the dawning of January 1, 2021, Apostle Chambers quietly transitioned to eternal peace with the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 11 siblings.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by his devoted wife of 20 years, Marguerite Chambers; six children, Apostle Walter C. (Crystal) Chambers and Burthram Chambers of Atlanta, GA, Leon Chambers of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Latonya Johnson of Decatur, GA, and Latilya (Marcus) Nichols and Karmilah Johnson of Tifton, GA; the joys of his heart, fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and church family; and a host of cousins and friends.
