Obituary

The season of life for Walter Lee King began on April 10, 1939, in Newton, Georgia when God entrusted him in the care of Eugene and Lodie King.

As he sprouted and grew, he attended the public schools of Baker County where he participated in various school activities and functions.

From a very early age, Walter was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support.  As a youth, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and began his steadfast  journey with the Lord.  Over the years, he was a faithful member of the Oakie Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Albany and served faithfully as an Usher.   When standing at the doors of the church, there was always a smile on his face while greeting the congregation.  The fact that the Lord called him to duty—to serve was an honor and he showed great pride and love in his ministry.

Walter was a very compassionate, loving, and giving man whose love for his family  and friends was unsurpassable.  Often described as a hardworking, determined individual, he was also a people's person who greatly impacted his community and touched the lives of many with his words and deeds.  Walter's life was filled with many interesting experiences and community involvement, including membership in the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.  He will be greatly missed by all who dearly loved him.

On January 28, 2021, Walter's earthly season ended and he transitioned to eternal peace and rest.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three siblings.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his loving daughter, Lisa King Drake of Albany, GA; four grandchildren, Ronald King, Kelvin Drake, Jr., Jarvis Drake, and Tequila Drake all of Albany, GA; twelve great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Shirley King of Albany, GA and Jesse King of St. Petersburg, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
