IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wilbur Cordell
Rickman
August 15, 1941 – January 22, 2020
Wilbur Cordell Rickman was born on August 15, 1941, to the late Elder Robert Cordell Rickman and Hattie Pearl Hicks Rickman. He was the oldest of five siblings.
During the early years of his life, he attended school in Gallatin, Tennessee and graduated from Ward High School in Hartsville, Tennessee.
After graduation, Wilbur enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed through the United States and served his country with distinction. He was a soldier to the core and the discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him. At the close of his tour of duty, he was honorably discharged and returned to civilian life where he pursued a career in Corrections. Wilbur was an extremely driven individual who gave his best at all times. He retired after rendering innumerable years of dedicated service with the Albany Diversion Center.
Wilbur was a devoted husband and father, a supportive brother and uncle, and an incredible cousin and friend. He loved the people in his life with heartfelt sincerity and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed by family and friends who loved him dearly.
On January 22, 2020, Wilbur answered the call to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Alpina Hudson.
He leaves fond memories that will forever be cherished by his wife of 27 years, Elizabeth Rickman; three children, Wendy Darby, Reverend William Earl (Penny) Burney, and Brian (Paige) Lynn; three sisters, Marcella Banks, Corena Locke, and Violena Wilks; sister-in-law, Wanda Adcox; grandchildren, Macie, Eric D., Eric B, Anthony, Dugan, Madison, and Taylor; one uncle, Daniel Rickman; very devoted cousins, Mary Mitchell, Monique Mitchell, and Rodney Mitchell; special friends, James Henry Austin, Charles Brinkley, Frank Brinkley, Robert Timberlake, and William "Doc" Staten; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
